Summer squash sandwich

This isn't a recipe.

For one, I am probably not qualified to write a recipe as my cooking skills are mediocre at best. Also, I totally ripped off was inspired by a local restaurant where I once got a similar lunch once.

What I am qualified to tell you is that this is a frickin' delicious sandwich that takes hardly any time to make.

It's pretty much that easy. Well, there's also some salt, olive oil and rosemary, but if I'd shown that many ingredients it would look too involved, don't you think?

I roasted up some sliced zucchini like this:

Wow, that was a terrible photo, but you get the point.

I used a cheese slicer to do this. And I rubbed the zuke slices with the olive oil, salt and rosemary and roasted them for about 20 minutes at 400°. Mine got a little brown and crispy on the ends, but I actually like that little extra crunch, so I was fine with that.

I'm pretty sure you can figure out the rest.

So what's your favorite summer sandwich? Does it involve zucchini?

Moonrise Kingdom

Have you seen the new Wes Anderson film Moonrise Kingdom? So fun!

Is your head swirling with all the halloween costume possibilities yet? I know, it's a tad early for such thoughts. But every character in the cast would be a gem! I'm clearly not the only one to think this. Over on polyvore, I found this:

Suzy Bishop

Obviously, Suzy Bishop is the new Margot Tenenbaum. Adorable. There were quite a few cute little Sam Shakusky collages too, but mostly for young boys. But what if I want to be Sam? I didn't see much for that. So I made one:

And then I had so much fun with that, I made one for the narrator (Although I briefly considered just appropriating someone else's garden gnome outfit, but those were too... we'll say whimsical.)

And then I did one for Mr. Bishop, Bill Murray's character, for good measure. I'm not sure I could, um, pull this off in public. I'm pretty sure I have inadvertently sported this costume around the house though. Is that weird? Maybe don't answer that.

Here's an interesting little article about how the costume designer created the looks with Wes Anderson.

So, will you and a dozen of your closest friends be dressing as a Moonrise Kingdom character come October?

Fallen Star

Wow.

When I was browsing Apartment Therapy this morning, I stopped at this photo thinking it was one of those warps that artist Clement Valla had captured from Google in the Postcards from Google Earth series. Remember those?

Trippyyyy.

But back to the first image. That is not a digital warp.

It's just a house hanging off the corner of a seven story building.

Are you having heart palpitations?! Yeah, me too.

Artist Do Ho Suh created this frightening and impressive installation at UC San Diego. I've seen his work at the Tate Modern as well. I really like how he reimagines architecture. I hope I get the opportunity to see this in person.
